Ronaldo To Wear Diamond- Encrusted Gold Boots In Next Match

Image
For winning his third Ballon d’Or, footwear giant Nike has created their first ever micro-diamond encrusted gold football boots for Cristiano Ronaldo which he will wear in his next match which is today January 15th against Atletico Madrid.  It’s a gift The boot, (pictured right) dubbed the Mercurial CR7 Rare Gold, is a gift from Nike to Ronaldo as a tribute ‘to his remorseless work ethic’. The company explains: “ The micro-diamonds are remnants from larger stones that are painstakingly perfected by craftsmen. As the diamonds are refined & the details sharpened, tiny pieces are cut away, leaving micro-diamonds behind as evidence of work in progress. The commitment to keep chipping away at something already impressive reminded Nike’s design team of Ronaldo’s work ethic. While many see Ronaldo as the best in the world, he sees room for improvement”

Abidal: Messi Will Finish Career At Barca

Image
Eric Abidal feels Lionel Messi will end his career at Barcelona following the Argentinian's remarks over his future at the club. Messi has recently denied that he has fallen out with Coach Luis Enrique but fuelled talk of an impending exit from Camp Nou with his comments prior to Monday's Ballon d'Or ceremony. The Argentina forward stated "I don't know where I'll be next year", but clarified his words after coming second behind Cristiano Ronaldo in the Ballon d'Or. Messi insisted that he is not thinking of leaving Barca, and former team-mate Abidal does not anticipate that stance to change. "I know Leo well," Abidal said. "He is a well-educated guy, he's not here to screw the club and others. He has character, he respects people. "As he put it, he's at Barca, but doesn't know what tomorrow brings. That's sport. But yes, I believe he will finish his career at Barcelona and I hope he stays. "Barca's hi

Equatorial Guinea To Test All Players At AFCON For Ebola

Image
All teams arriving in Equatorial Guinea for the African Nations Cup must travel through the capital Malabo and have tests for the Ebola virus, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) said on Wednesday. Those who show any signs of the contagious virus, or who refused to be examined, could be quarantined for up to 21 days. “Everyone arriving at the Nations Cup must respect the medical rules and regulations,” CAF said in a statement. The tough regulations reflect fears of the spread of the deadly haemorrhagic fever that led Morocco to ask for a postponement of the 16-team tournament. Instead they were stripped of their hosting rights and Equatorial Guinea stepped in at the last moment to take over. The worst epidemic of the virus on record has killed more than 8,371 people and infected 21,171 in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea, according to World Health Organization figures released on Monday. Guinea are competing at the Nations Cup but the other two countries not. [Afkinsid

Coaches Rob Kelly and Keith Downing will take charge for the trip to West Ham on New Year's Day. Irvine had been without a boss' job for three-and- a-half years when Albion chose him to work alongside director of football Richard Garlick and technical director Terry Burton. An Albion statement said Irvine had been placed on gardening leave, and Burton said: “We appointed Alan in the summer convinced that we had taken on one of the foremost coaches in the UK and nothing that has happened since then has altered our view.
