44 Nigerian soldiers reportedly detained in underground cell in Jos

44 soldiers who were dislodged from the Nigerian army after failing to fight Boko Haram members on Oct. 28th 2014 are currently being detained under a military cell in Jos, Plateau state, according to a report by Premium Times. The 44 soldiers including 5 staff Sergeants, 2 Sergeants, 5 Corporals, 18 Lance Corporals, and 14 Privates were dislodged from the army after members of Boko Haram dislodged them from Mubi town in Adamawa state. They were detained for 10 days and then moved into the underground cell where they have been since then. Boko Haram crisis: Group of Cameroon captives freed

According to  BBC, at least 20 of up to 80 people taken hostage by Boko Haram militants in Cameroon at the weekend are reported to be free. Cameroon's defence ministry said the hostages were freed "as defence forces pursued the attackers who were heading back to Nigeria". Many of those kidnapped in the cross-border raid were said to be children. It was one of the biggest abductions by Boko Haram outside Nigeria and raised fears that it is expanding its attacks. The militant Islamist group has seized control of towns and villages in north-east Nigeria and has begun threatening neighbouring countries. Chad, which also borders Nigeria, has recently sent soldiers to help Cameroon tackle the militants. Unfortunate sad incident. A man was killed this morning along Ikorodu Rd, by Ojota bus-stop. He was knocked down by a hit and run driver whenhe wanted to cross the high way. He died on the spot. Police have since arrived the scene of the incident...

Man kills friend over N30 dry gin in Lagos

The Lagos State Police are currently investigating the death of a 57-year-old man allegedly stabbed to death by his friend during a disagreement over sachet of dry gin worth N30, in Otto community, an outskirts of Lagos. Meanwhile, Police officers have gone on a raiding spree in the community. They were said to have roused some people from sleep and taken them away. The officers, it was gathered, came twice to raid the community and allegedly whisked away about 30 suspects. It was gathered that the victim, identified as Mr. Abudu (aka Baba Timo), who had moved from Bariga to Otto some months ago, was cooling down with local gin at a joint with his friend (names yet unknown) when trouble began.
