Man sentence to death for drug trafficking in Malaysia

A 37 year old Nigerian man, Ibe Godwin Uzochukwu has been sentenced to death by hanging in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia after he was found guilty by a Malysian high court for trafficking 2,150.4 grammes of methamphetamine. He was arrested with the drugs at KL International Airport (KLIA), Sepang in 2011. According to court documents, Ibe was arrested with the banned drugs upon his arrival at the exit Route, KLIA Arrival Hall, at 4.30pm on July 1, 2011. After listening to the submission of the prosecuting counsel, the judge who presided over the case, Datuk Halim Aman, found Uzochukwu guilty and sentenced him to death by hanging.

West Brom have sacked head coach Alan Irvine less than seven months after he was given the job. Saturday's defeat at Stoke left Albion just a point clear of the bottom three halfway through the Premier League season having won just four games. And Irvine, a shock appointment when he succeeded Pepe Mel in the summer, has paid the price for a run of seven defeats in nine matches. Coaches Rob Kelly and Keith Downing will take charge for the trip to West Ham on New Year's Day. The presence of Yakubu Aiyegbeni in the stands of the stands to watch QPR lose 1-2 to Arsenal on Boxing Day has sparked off transfer talks of a possible reunion with Harry Redknapp. According to the Daily Mirror, the Nigerian striker is one of the names on the wishlist of transfer targets in the January window of the QPR manager. One of such targets is England striker, Jermain Defoe, who is with FC Toronto in the MLS. But Redknapp has a budget which is inadequate to bring in stellar names as he seeks to steer Rangers away from relegation in the second round of the Barclays Premier League. Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti has been named as the best coach of 2014 at the Globe Soccer Awards, held in Dubai. In his first year at the Santiago Bernabeu the Italian guided the Spanish side to an elusive 10th European Cup with a 4-1 final defeat of city rivals Atletico in Lisbon. Fulani herdsmen threaten to attack Abia village

RESIDENTS of Okporenyi village in the Bende Local Government Area of Abia State have been living in fear of possible attack by Fulani herdsmen following a face-off between the community and the cattle rearers. The Fulani herdsmen were said to have threatened to attack the community if the people failed to produce the cows allegedly stolen by the villagers. According to a member of the village, trouble started on Christmas Eve when a group of herdsmen suddenly emerged in the village, threatening to attack the villagers if they could not produce their missing cows.
