Juneteenth ensures that, Blacks living in America never perish!  What is Juneteenth?  Juneteenth (a portmanteau of June and nineteenth), happens to a special day for blacks in the United States to commemorate the end of slavery.  Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Emancipation Day, is the oldest known celebration commemorating the ending of slavery in the United States. Celebrated on every 19th of June, Juneteenth grew with more participation from descendants as they treated the day as their Independence Day, according to the Texas State Library.  It spread to other states and has been celebrated every year since. This celebration is yet to be a National official holiday but that of 47 states official holiday.  Hawaii, North Dakota and South Dakota are the only states without an official recognition. NDLEA Arrests Single Mother For Inserting Heroine In Private Part

The NDLEA on Thursday arrested a 31-year-old single mother for concealing 430 grammes of heroin in her private part in a bid to avoid arrest. The Head of Public Affairs of the NDLEA, Mr Mitchell Ofoyeju, made the disclosure in a statement in Ikeja. He said the arrest took place at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos during the inward screening of passengers on an Emirates Airlines flight. The Commander of the NDLEA at the airport, Mr Hamza Umar, was quoted as saying that the arrest was facilitated with the aid of scanning machines. “During the inward screening of Emirate passengers, one Aladi Onyinye Juliet tested positive for narcotic ingestion. “The drug was, subsequently, expelled, field-tested and weighed.” Hamza said that preliminary investigation carried out by the NDLEA indicated that the suspect was returning from Pakistan where she was given the drug. “The suspect who hails from Abia State also has established link with som...

The Federal High Court in Lagos has restrained Daar Communications Plc (AIT) from broadcasting any video documentaries against All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice-Presidential candidate Prof Yemi Osinbajo (SAN). According to Thisday,the order by Justice James Tsoho was made on Wednesday has been extended to all other broadcast stations under the control of the Broadcasting Organisation of Nigeria including NTA The application was brought before the court by Osinbajo through his lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana (SAN).. National co-ordinator of the Odua Peoples Congress (OPC) Otunba Gani Adams, has called for the immediate sack of the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Prof. Attahiru Jega. According to Premium Times, Adams a supporter of President Goodluck Jonathan, disclosed this while speaking at his organisation’s Eledumare Festival in Lagos on Sunday, March 8. Olusegun Obasanjo is turning 78 today. As part of his birthday celebrations, yesterday, he led the OBJ team in a football match against the Ogun State Executive Team. The match took place at Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abeokuta with Governor Ibikunle Amosun, leading the state team, Premium Times reports. Obasanjo scored two goals for his team. Amosun’s team scored just one goal, consequently, the OBJ team won the match. “I am satisfied and fulfilled, even at my age I cherish sport, because it is relevant to health and we should all endeavour to engage in sporting activities,” Obasanjo said.

Boko Haram beaheads 2 men accused of being spies

Boko Haram has released a  new video  which shows the executions of two alleged spies. According to AP,In the video posted on Monday titled “Harvest of Spies,”  a man identified as Dawoud Muhammad of Baga city on his knees in the bush before several armed and masked fighters. In response to questions, Muhammad says a police officer paid him 5,000 naira ($25) to spy and promised to make him so rich he would never have to farm again. The other man is identified as Muhammad Awlu. The video does not show the actual beheadings but the two bodies after the executions, with heads on the chests.Worthy of note is the fact that,the  video is similar  to that of the ISIS  militants .

Man bites off son’s ear for defending wife

There was confusion on Saturday in the Ebute Meta area of Lagos State after a truck loader, Udeme Inim, 30, allegedly bit off his stepson’s ear.The incident happened around 11am on Asaka Street, off Abule-Nla Road, Ebute Meta West. It was gathered that there had been a disagreement between Inim and his wife, which had led to the suspect assaulting her. PUNCH Metro learnt that when the victim, Christopher Bassey, intervened, Inim left his wife and attacked him.In the ensuing scuffle, Inim, an indigeneof Akwa Ibom State, was said to have gone for the teenager’s right ear and bit it off. Our correspondent was told that the victim was rushed to a hospital shortly after he reported the matter to the IponriPolice Station, but his ear could not be saved.Our correspondent saw the ear in a transparent nylon after sighting the victim in the Ebute Meta area on Monday.
