Image
Saudi Arabia on Sunday beheaded a convicted murderer, bringing to five the number of people executed since new King Salman took office, continuing the kingdom’s use of the harshest punishment. Abdelrahman al-Jahni, a Saudi, was convicted of shooting another man dead during a dispute, the interior ministry said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency. The sentence was carried out in the holy city of Medina. According to an AFP tally, Jahni is the latest of 17 locals and foreigners to be executed this year. Five have been beheaded since King Salman took office on January 23 after the death of his predecessor Abdullah. The interior ministry says the death penalty in such cases reflects the government’s commitment to “maintaining security, realising justice”. But the kingdom has faced constant international criticism over its human rights record, including the use of the death penalty. Under Abdullah, the number of executions jumped from 27 in 2010 to around 80 a

A PROFESSIONAL competitive eater from Chicago downed 444 chicken wings in 30 minutes at the 23 rd annual Wing Bowl in Philadelphia , narrowly edging out his nearest rival and shattering the record of 363 wings set a year earlier . “ I have the sweats but I feel a lot better because I know I don ’ t have to eat any more chicken wings, ” the winner , Patrick Bertoletti, said after narrowly beating prior record - holder Molly Schuyler , who gobbled 440 wings in front of a crowd of thousands at the area where the city’s National Basketball Association franchise , the 76 ers , plays. DECADE OF GLORY: THE MEMOIRS OF AN ENTERTAINER To The KokoMaster , D’banj , Music is a difficult thing to define and individuals have different meanings for this word. However, it is undeniable that music is an art of some sort, a mixture of rhythm, words and acoustics carried through the wind by the magic of the moment in which it occurs. Some people redefine music and by so doing, define an era by their uniqueness, infectious charisma and undeniable passion for this art. Oladapo Daniel Oyebanjo , is an enigma that defies all attempts to completely define him. You have blazed a trail in the annals of music on this continent and even beyond throughout your scintillating career. It has been a journey of ups and downs, breaking conventions and rewriting the rules in your own style and giving people like me the privilege of watching Africa’s Greatest Entertainer. Perhaps even more astounding is the ease with which you have kept audiences on their feet, blowing their minds aw

Mr Ibu-Many Actors Have Been Chased out of the Government House for Begging

Image
John Okafor known as Mr Ibu has taken a swipe at the Actors Guild of Nigeria, calling their leaders sycophants who chase after politicians for favours ..He aired his views in a new interview withThisday.. What do you think is the problem facing Nollywood industry? Nollywood is suffering from so many problems. One of these problems is the sycophancy from the industry’s leaders, the people in power. I mean the people running the industry are just running after politicians. Nollywood as a whole don’t have good leaders. All they do is attach themselves to politicians and seek for political office instead of restructuring the industry.  We don’t even have a standard office; we are not united and we are not financially structured. You can ask the upcoming stars how they cope; they will tell you the truth of what they pass through to have a role in a movie, especially the ladies. Some of them have abandoned their education to become movie makers. Our leaders are just using and dumping. I

On his arrival to the institution, TASUED students on campus who became aware of his presence immediately trooped out in large numbers. Initially, it appeared to the Governor and his campaign team the students had gathered to cheer them. There was a wind of change when some students hurriedly brought out sachets water (pure water) and in a jiffy, it became a chorused act as other furious students joined in stoning Governor Ibikunle Amosun with various objects they could lay their hands on. Etcetera has a message again! :Read his Memo To Buhari's Supporters..

Image
Stupid is a word that has a broad range of applications, but it generally means a person lacks rudimentary intelligence or the ability to reason. It can also imply a congenital lack of capacity for reasoning, or a permanent state of daze or slow-mindedness. However one defines or applies the word stupid, you can hardly think of the word without directly relating it to the utterances of some Buhari’s supporters; especially the supposedly literate ones. Over the past week, it became apparent that the level of stupidity inherent in those inclined to support certain politicians at all cost is beyond comprehension. In fact, it is frightening that so many Nigerians of voting age lack the fundamental reasoning ability of a second-grader and are even less-informed about basic facts than a kindergarten. I have heard some of the most bizarre ideas peddled by some Buhari’s supporters and I am really concerned about the future of this country. I have heard troubling statements like: “It really
