BPL Players of the season
1. GOALKEEPER | David De Gea |
The 24-year-old’s stellar performances have papered over Manchester United’s defensive cracks this season and he will be vital as the club attempt to restore Champions League football.
2. RIGHT-BACK | Nathaniel Clyne |
The 23-year-old gained his first England cap in November following his impressive displays for Southampton this term. Clyne, who edges out Pablo Zabaleta and Branislav Ivanovic for our right-back spot, has the highest tackles per game average in the Premier League (4.3).
3. CENTRE-BACK | John Terry |
The former England captain has played an integral part in Chelsea’s watertight defence this season and has remarkably conceded only three fouls in 19 games - the lowest of any central defender in the Premier League.
4. CENTRE-BACK | Gary Cahill |
The 29-year-old has formed a formidable partnership alongside John Terry and has already steered Chelsea to eight clean sheets in the Premier League this season.
5. LEFT-BACK | Cesar Azpilicueta |
Another incredibly steady performer in Chelsea’s defence this season. The 25-year-old continues to play on the left flank, despite being initially signed as a right-back, but has rarely put a foot wrong for the Premier League leaders.
6. MIDFIELD | Nemanja Matic |
Chelsea’s only Premier League loss this term came when the Serbian was missing through suspension. Matic’s power and ability to read danger makes him vital to Chelsea’s title charge, while Jose Mourinho has constantly praised the mid fielder's presence this season.
7. MIDFIELD | Cesc Fabregas |
Having already set up 13 goals in the Premier League this season, the Spaniard looks on course to break Thierry Henry’s record of 20 assists in a single campaign. The £30 million summer signing from Barcelona has comfortably slotted into Chelsea’s midfield and has frequently been at the heart of the team’s fluid attacking displays.
8. RIGHT WING | Eden Hazard |
The Belgian is another key member in Chelsea’s blisteringly quick attack. Hazard was criticised at the start of the season for a lack of end product but seven Premier League goals and four assists in his last 13 games suggests he may have found his rhythm.
9. LEFT WING | Alexis Sanchez |
Arsenal have found their new talisman in the Chile international, who has adjusted with impressive ease to the Premier League with 10 goals and six assists in 18 appearances. Sanchez has further endeared himself to Arsenal supporters with his tireless work-rate, and he will be the catalyst in the club’s push for a top-four place this term.
10. STRIKER | Sergio Aguero |
The Argentine leads the way in the Premier league with 14 goals in 15 appearances, averaging a goal every 75 minutes, and will be a crucial figure in Manchester City’s attempt to retain the title ahead of Chelsea.
11. STRIKER | Diego Costa |
With 13 Premier League goals to his name already, the Spain international has settled quickly following his £32 million arrival from Atletico Madrid. Finally, it appears Chelsea have the striker required to sustain a Premier League challenge.
Seven Chelsea's players made the list, impressive one indeed.
Keep it up.
