Impeachment: Jonathan tells Fayose to resign, says time of impunity is over

Outgoing President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has told the embattled Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state to resign now or face the inevitable option of impeachment by the 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Jonathan was said to have told Fayose that the time of impunity in Nigeria is over and that he (Jonathan) is committed to the rule of law. “As you can see, I am already packing my personal belongings out of the Villa, back to my Village, I cannot influence any process, we must allow the law to run its full course, we cannot continue to disrupt due process, that is not good for the country.” According to a source, Fayose (and the Ondo state Governor, Olusegun MImiko) were deliberately absent at the post election meeting held with Jonathan in Aso Rock because of the dismal performance of the PDP in the South West despite the last-minute huge investment and the promises that the zone will be delivered to the party. Naira Set To Rise Further This Week

The naira will rise further against the dollar on the parallel market this week, analysts and foreign exchange dealers have predicted. They argued that the peaceful outcome of the presidential election and the hard stance of the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, against corruption and economic leakages had boosted investor confidence in the economy.

Man Arrested In Lagos For Killing Student Over Girlfriend [See Photo]

A 38 year old car wash attendant Monday Ekwekuba, an indigene of Imo State, has been arrested by the Lagos state Police command for killing 26-year-old student Wisdom Okafor pictured above in the Ojokoro area of Lagos State following a disagreement over the victim’s closeness to his girlfriend. Punch reports that the suspect Ekwekuba had visited his girlfriend on March 22nd and met Wisdom in her house. He accused the deceased of having an affair with his girlfriend and out of anger, picked up a stick and smashed it on Wisdom’s head who took to his heels but unfortunately ran into a moving vehicle where he was crushed to death. According to Daniel, the victim’s younger brother, he said his brother became friends with the lady in question after he mistakenly dialed her number. Emir of Kano and former CBN governor, Muhammadu Sanusi II says President Jonathan lost the Presidential election because many people were not happy with him and his PDP-led government. In an interview with  Punch , the Emir said high level of poverty in the nation played a deciding factor in the voting pattern in this year’s election. He said the PDP had in previous elections consistently lost in areas that President Obasanjo had majority of votes when he contested.
