According to several reports,president Jonathan's campaign bus and hilux were set ablaze at Sulega, in Niger State today..This is coming after a statement by Buhari that whoever participates in election violence should be persecuted ... Jonathan's campaign has been met with pockets of violent acts in Kastina, Jos, Bauchi and now, Niger state..

The National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (rtd.), says the Federal Government is planning to introduce a law that will ban and block all porn websites in the country. He stated this at the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop on use of social media organised for Islamic preachers, Imams and youths in Kaduna on Sunday. NAN reports that the workshop, which was organised by the national body of Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunna (JIBWIS), aimed at correcting anomalies in the use of social media. Dasuki, who was represented by the Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, said: “Government is planning to ban and block websites that inculcate negative attitudes in our children but we need a law to support such move. “Because without a law, people can go to court and claim infringement on their rights.”

A Tanzanian politician had his head and genitals chopped off and then cooked after adultery claims on Friday, a local police chief told AFP. "Five people stormed Madirisha’s room wielding machetes, beheaded him, chopped off legs, hands and genitals. The assailants later cooked the chopped off body parts outside the house," police chief Dhahiri Kidavashari told the agency. According the newspaper, the victim, Richard Madirisha, 31, was a local political leader. Three men were detained by police as a result.

The people of the Middle Belt said they regretted voting for President Goodluck Jonathn during the 2011 general elections. These four robbers died in an auto crash after men of the State Anti- Robbery Squad gave them a hot chase while trying to escape in Akure, Ondo State. The robbers had just finished tying up some travelers they kidnapped to a tree in a bush and were on their way to make withdrawals from their victim’s bank accounts using ATMs when the police got informed about their operation.

Boko haram members Sunday released 192 out of the 218 people abducted at Katarko town, Gujba local government area of Yobe state. A prominent politician, Alhaji Goni Katarko who reunites with his family members told our correspondent that the insurgents called them and asked them to pick the captives at Woron yinwa village. “They were so lucky to get lorry that conveyed them to Gazargana village were we picked them through the aid of military personnel. The Nigeria military has imposed curfew on Maiduguri on Sunday following a fierce battle in the city. “Troops are repelling a simultaneous attack on Monguno and Maiduguri by terrorists,” the defence headquarters tweeted. Former military President General Ibrahim Babangida yesterday rose in defence of the APC presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, on the genuineness of his secondary school certificate. Gen. Babangida warned that any attempt to politicise the military would not be in the nation’s interest. “It is a very dangerous thing to do,” he told The Nation in an interview in Minna. He said there was no way Buhari would have risen to the rank of a general in the army without possessing the basic educational qualification. The former warlords at a meeting at Government House, Yenagoa last Friday insisted that it is Jonathan on February 14 or war. The said defeat for him at the polls would amount to dethronement , which they described as unacceptable . The Uniport Deputy Registrar (Information), Dr. William Wodi has explained that apart from acquiring his first degree in the institution, Jonathan also got his Masters and Ph.D in the same institution. Wodi, in a statement sent to SUNDAY PUNCH described the rumour about the President’s educational qualification as baseless. The deputy registrar of the university specifically stated that Jonathan was among 422 students that matriculated in the school in 1977 and was admitted in the Department of Zoology, which had been renamed Animal and Environmental Science.

A Tiwa Savage impostor has duped is the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) senatorial candidate for Lagos West in the forthcoming 2015 election, Segun Adewale, also known as Aeroland. Daily Independent reports that, the fake Savage, who is now on the run, duped the Aeroland boss of N500,000, as part-payment to perform at his political declaration party.
