Many followers of Nigeria’s most prestigious musical awards were left stunned when they got to know that comedian Bovi would not be hosting the Headies 2014. Questions started coming from all angles and some even came up with different suggestions like something went wrong between the organizers and the popular comedian. Well, the real reason he couldn’t host the show has finally been revealed. The show was initially slated to hold on October 25, 2014 and he was in for the date and preparations and rehearsals had already started when the organizers decided to change the venue and the date due to some logistic reasons and he was already billed to have a show on the new date picked. So he couldn’t just combine two shows in one night. Nigerian Army Now Says They Have Buhari’s Certificate

Yesterday, a military source told Vanguard that the military does not have Gen. Buhari’s certificate. Today, the director of public relations of the Nigerian Army Brigadier Olaleye Lajide, dismissed the reports, saying the military have his academic records, that they’re just waiting for him to apply for it. From Sahara Reporters The military spokesman made the disclosure while responding to a text message from SaharaReporters seeking clarification about the status of Mr. Buhari’s records. Brigadier Lajide affirmed that the Nigerian Army is in possession of all records of serving, retired and deceased officers since its inception. He added, however, that all military officers are supposed to keep original copies of their certificates. According to him, in the event where an officer loses his or her original copy of records, the concerned officer must officially apply for copies from the army. Six Weeks To Election: FG Yet To Approve N75bn INEC Budget

Six weeks to this year’s general elections, the Federal Government has yet to appropriate the remaining N75bn out of the N120bn budgeted for the conduct of the poll by the Independent National Electoral Commission. This, according to social commentators, lawyers, and other concerned stakeholders is already hampering the INEC’s preparations for the much awaited elections. Saturday PUNCH learnt that INEC had estimated that it would need N120bn to prepare for the elections, but only N45bn was appropriated by the Budget Office of the Federation in 2014 budget, leaving a shortfall of N75bn. The House of Representatives had recently raised concerns over the general elections, saying that adequate funding and security would determine the credibility of the polls. Crystal Palace announces Pardew as Manager

Alan Pardew was on Saturday confirmed as Crystal Palace’s new manager after being released from his contract at Newcastle. A statement on Palace’s official website read: “Crystal Palace Football Club is pleased to announce the appointment of Alan Pardew as the club’s new manager after signing a three-and-a-half-year contract.” Pardew spent four years in charge of Newcastle United but he was never a favourite with many of the Tyneside club’s fans and eventually jumped at the chance of returning to Palace where he spent four years as a player. “I am absolutely delighted to be the new manager of Crystal Palace,” he said. Nigerian Army Condemns Four More Soldiers To Death By Firing Squad

The General Military Court Martial setup by the authorities of the Nigerian Army to try some soldiers of the 111 Special Forces Battalion, Maiduguri, have again condemned four soldiers to death by firing squad. Investigations revealed that the President of the Court, Brig.- Gen Musa Yusuf, found the four soldiers guilty of conspiracy to commit mutiny and thus sentenced them to death. It was learnt that the court condemned the four soldiers to death on December 24, 2014. The GCM had earlier convicted 54 of the 59 soldiers to death after finding them guilty of conspiracy to commit mutiny on December 17, 2014. Five soldiers from the 111 Special Forces Battalion who were tried alongside the 54 for allegedly refusing to obey an order from their Commander, were found to be innocent of the charges and were discharged and acquitted. Prior to the conviction of the 54 soldiers, another GCM had convicted 12 out of 18 soldiers tried for mutiny on September 14, 2014. The c

The AirAsia Flight QZ8501, which had 16 children and 146 other passengers and crew members on board, was said to have disappeared from the radar in Surabaya, Indonesia on Sunday. Following the disappearance of the passenger plane, SCOAN released a video on its YouTube page, in which TB Joshua accused Indonesia of failing to heed its earlier warning. “I have a message for the nation, Indonesia.
