Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose has pleaded with leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC, especially former Lagos State governor, Senator Bola Tinubu to be human enough to allow the party’s presidential candidate, Major General Mohammadu Buhari (rtd) embark on his planned medical trip abroad. The governor said Buhari was being prevented from traveling abroad for medical treatment, despite his ill-health so as to avoid controversies. Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka quoted Governor Fayose as saying at a campaign rally in Omuo Ekiti, Ekiti East Local Government that "Buhari is a car with a damaged engine but being packaged by Tinubu and his cabal whose only interest is the wealth of Nigeria." The Coordinating Minister for the Economy and Minister of Finance Dr. Ngozi Okonjo- Iweala has responded to former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria ( CBN ) Charles Soludo’s recent critique of the Nigerian economy , describing Soludo as the worst CBN governor in Nigeria ’s history . Ambode doesn't have what it takes to manage Lagos- Obanikoro

Former Chairman of Lagos Island local government area and Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro has urged residents of Lagos not to vote for the governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Akinwunmi Ambode, stating that he does not have what it takes to manage the state. “When I was the chairman of Lagos Island, Ambode was a council treasurer and I can tell you that he (Ambode) doesn’t have what it takes to manage a state like Lagos. Ambode was forced to resign as a civil servant by the government and we must look into his record,” he said. Boko Haram Launches PR Campaign, Opens Twitter Account

Insurgent group, Jama’atu Ahlis Sunnah Lidda’awati Waljahad, popularly known as Boko Haram has launched a new Public Relation campaign via twitter meant to win people over to its side. The twitter handle,Alurwa Alwuthqa, which claim to be the mouthpiece of the group, announced the sect’s capture of Monguno while also showing pictures of child soldiers in training. The account communicating in Arabic which started twitting on the 18th of January with a message about Baga attack has over 3,000 followers. Though there is no video of the group’s leader Abubakar Shekau on the account, there is a video of an interview with one Abu Mus’ab Albarnawi who is said to be the spokesman of the group. Both the interviewer and interviewee in the video had their faces blurred. The Nigerian Defence Headquarters has not issued any comment on the twitter account and its content as at the time of filing this report. Source: Daily Trust

According to the poll results put together by a group called Youth Ballot Evolution, President Jonathan emerged winner of the Presidential opinion poll with APC’s Muhammadu Buhari following closely behind.. The page which has over 80 thousand likes claimed the poll was not conducted online but those who participated in the poll dialed a toll free number and followed the voice prompt. Following questions and criticisms by APC supporters, they said only one vote; the first vote was allowed per person irrespective of how many times the caller called in to vote. The campaign billboards of two Nigerian presidential candidates erected in Ghana’s capital, Accra have been pulled down following an order by the country’s (Ghana) national security agency. The billboards of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party featuring President Goodluck Jonathan, as well as those of the main opposition All Progressives Congress of Muhammadu Buhari, located on Accra roads, were pulled down over the weekend by the Accra Metropolitan Assembly. The decision to pull down the billboards was said to have come amid fears by some Ghanaians that their country could be drawn indirectly into the politics of Nigeria, with security implications, especially with the Boko Haram terrorists wreaking havoc in Nigeria. Prominent Niger Delta warlord and ex-militant, Mujaheed Asari-Dokubo, has threatened that the people of the Niger Delta will respond in equal measure to Tuesday’s attack on the convoy of President Goodluck Jonathan in Katsina. There were reports of an attack on President Jonathan’s convoy in Katsina after his visit to the family of late President Umaru Yarádua in Katsina just moments after his campaign in the town.
