The Significance of Blood Ebo

Image
The blood sacrifice is a process of slaughtering and using the blood of the sacrificial animals such as pigeon, cock, hen, guinea fowl, duck, tortoise, he goat, she goat, ram, sheep, pig, cow, It should be noted that, as a diviner, you cannot do without blood sacrifice. One is not committing any crime by killing these animals; afterall we do slaughter chickens or other animals for consumption. The reason why these animals have to be killed is stipulated in Irosun Meji where God sent Oodua to the Earth. He gave him a rope so that he can hold the world  together .1n order to succeed in his mission, he consulted diviner who advised him to perform sacrifice with two goats., two sheep, food items etc.

"if someone has a good destiny and his inner self works against that good destiny, there will always be problems" -FAMA (1993) Yoruba as a language is a very complex language. It is like Ifa you cannot finish learning it, you keep learning and learning as a word may connotes different meanings via its Ami (Accent mark). To any Yoruba man, the word "Orí" has several meanings, Orí means Head. It means the apex of all things, the highest of any endeavor. What Orí connotes therefore is superlative or the zenith. For instance, the head is the highest and most important in the human body. It houses the brain which controls the whole body. Orí is the head, "Head" is the top, "Top" is the Supreme while "Supreme Being" is Olodumare.

Five Factors that hinder the intergrity of Yoruba Tradition

The integrity of our dearest Yoruba religion is washing away in the diaspora which is caused by some babalawos/ Orisa practitioners here at home. The current trend on Facebook about an illegal Coronation in somewhere in Oyo prompted me to this write-up. Different views, opinions, comments have been made by several people on this issue.
