Scotland’s Kim Little is among the nominees for the first ever BBC Women’s Footballer of the Year award, with the shortlist announced on the BBC World Service on Sunday. Little scored 17 goals in 25 games for Seattle Reign as they won the National Women’s Soccer League in 2014, and was named the league’s Most Valuable Player.

South African govt expresses anger over Nigerian govts recall of her ambassadors

South African government has released a statement expressing their displeasure over Nigerian government's decision to recall her envoys following Xenophobic attacks in SA. In a statement released by the South African government's Department of International Relations and Co-operations, SA government described the decision as an unfortunate and regrettable step, adding that only Nigeria has taken such a decision since the xenophobic attacks began.

8 Nigerians In South Africa Want To Come Back Home – Ambassador

Due to the xenophobic attacks, 8 Nigerians living in South Africa, have reportedly signified their intention to head back home. Nigeria’s Consul General in South Africa, Amb. Uche Ajulu-Okeke, disclosed on Wednesday, that the Nigerian mission was already working with them to facilitate their journey back home. “I am working with eight Nigerians who have indicated interest to go home. They are presently at the deportation holding facility at Limbola, South Africa.” “The meeting was successful. Victims of the attacks came with wounds, including machete and gunshot wounds. They narrated how they were attacked and brought pictures. We took note of all that. ‘The mission asked all the provincial chairmen of the union to collate all information reported.”

The Federal government on Wednesday clarified that President Goodluck Jonathan will hand over power to General Muhammad Buhari, Nigeria President elect on 29 May and not 28 May as previously reported. Senator Patricia Akwashiki, the Minister of Information told journalists after today’s meeting of Federal Executive Council that President Jonathan will remain Nigeria’s President till 29 May. Akwashiki said she was misquoted in the statement attributed to her last week that President Jonathan will hand over power on 28 May. There has been controversies since the publication of the story that the President will hand over power a day earlier than usual. The opposition All Progressives Congress is said to be uncomfortable with the May 28 handover date proposed by the out- going administration. UNILORIN Law Faculty Rated Best In Nigeria

The Faculty of law, University of Ilorin has been rated the best in the country by the Council of Legal Education based on the cumulative performance of its students in the 2014 Bar Final Examinations of the Nigerian Law School. The followed the report submitted by the ad-hoc committee set up to assess the performance of students at the August 2014 Bar Final Examination. According to the report, the top five universities in terms of law in the country are; 1) University of Ilorin 2) University of Lagos 3) University of Ibadan 4) University of Nigeria, Nsukka and 5) University of Uyo and Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko. It was noted that the University of Ilorin and the University of Lagos have remained in the top five for the past 3 years. Solomon Aranse, the new Acting Inspector General of Police, was until his appointment, the Head of the Force Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department, The apex intelligence gathering arm of the Nigerian police, the Force CID is the only arm of the police that provides Intelligence on Crime and National Security. He enlisted into the Nigerian Police in 1981 after graduating from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1980 with a degree in Political Science.
