President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday condemned the bombings in Kaduna which he said appeared to have been targeted at a former Head of State, Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), and prominent Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi. He however thanked God for sparing their lives.Jonathan’s message was contained in astatement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati.He denounced the targeting of political and religious leaders by terrorists, whomhe described as enemies of the nation.He said he had directed the Police and other security agencies to take all necessary actions to apprehend the perpetrators of the attacks. The Ogun State Police Command has arrested one Gbenga Ogunfolabo in Ishara, Remo North Local Government Area of the state for allegedly stabbing his wife, 45-year-old Bosede, to death with a broken bottle.A statement by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, OlumuyiwaAdejobi, on Tuesday, alleged that the suspect, a 47-year-old farmer stabbed Bosede to death during a fight between the couple on Wednesday last week butthe incident was not reported to the police as a result of family pressure.The PPRO said one of the relations of the deceased(name withheld) decided to report the matter to the police for thorough investigation before the suspected killer husband was arrested.The police explained that two of the couple eight children died as a result of an undisclosed sickness, adding that the husband reportedly started maltreating the wife, a petty trader, culminating in the fracas that claimed the life of Bosede.“The Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Ikemefuna Okoye, h...

A former Governor of Ogun State, Mr. Gbenga Daniel, has berated Govenor Ibikunle Amosun for rubbishing all the good works he did during his tenure between 2003 and 2011.Daniel, who is being prosecuted for financial impropriety by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission told journalists at his Mende home in Lagos on Tuesday that the Amosun administration had failed woefully and he was working hard to ensure that Amosun did not win a second term in 2015.He boasted that during his tenure, he built roads and awarded contracts to only indigenes of the state but Amosun had not built a single road but was only expanding the existing ones.
