Being the king: Ooni of Ife set for tour to mark first anniversary
More than one million people are expected to participate in a one-in-town carnival organized to celebrate the first anniversary of the ascension to the throne of his Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ile- Ife.
The carnival, tagged: “O ti see se Carnival, 2016” (It is possible), is not only aimed at celebrating the landmark reign of the monarch but also to showcase the rich cultural splendor of Ile-Ife and foster unity among the Yorùbá race.
Speaking recently at the palace of the monarch, the spokesman for the toga users, Desmond Bushi, disclosed that the carnival is also projected to bring all Odua descendants and well-wishers from different parts of Nigeria and in the diaspora to rejoice at the reign of Ooni Ogunwusi and the Odua legacy.
According to him, several promoters are already working on behalf of Ooni Ogunwusi to host the unique event aimed at showcasing the rich culture and tradition of Ile-Ife to the world.
The tour which is scheduled to hold from the 21st to 30th October, 2016 will be the first historical visit of the Ooni of Ife to Europe since his ascension to the throne of Oduduwa.
