1: Out of all the 401 irunmoles who descended from heaven to earth, Osun was the only female. All other female deities are human being who later turned into orisa.
2:  Osun specializes in taking care of children and young ones.
3: Osun had once suffered from barreness before she later gave birth to several children in her life time.
4: Osun  experience place her in a position where she appreciates and understands  the value and importance of children in people's lives.
5: No matter how angry Osun may be with a person, such anger will never extend to the person's offspring.
6: Osun is closely linked with water.
7:Osun uses water as her curative and treatment "medicine" for children.
8: Osun followers use 16 cowries as consultation tools for clients,  which were given to her (Osun) by Orunmila when there was special work to be done.
9: Osun is known to be beautiful, powerful, influential,  straight forward,  gentle headed and considerate.
10: She is not in the same social strata with the other irunmoles and her sex has  never hindered her acheivement in her life.
11: Osun symbols are; Osun's pot containing Osun "medicine" water, white clothes and dresses, brass bracelets, bangles etc. Osun's comb known as "Ooya" (made of elephant tusk, coral, brass) , fans made of brass known as "Edan òsun" plus a large plate known as "Awo Abokadelè, used to keep the items of the deity.
12: Osun's grove is usually a medium sized house or hall and sometimes a hut in front of which is grown "peregun tree".
13: Osun feeding materials are; kolanuts, bitter kola,  hen (with tied legs), goat, pig , corn meal, liquor, pounded yam, yanrin vegetable,  water and palm oil.
14: Her taboos are; Millet  beer , duck, palm kernel oil.
15: Osun is fed while kneeling before the symbols in Osun's shrine.
