Esu not satan



Do you know who really Esu is? Or have you known him already? Fact has it that majority of people on earth  today especially the Christians and Muslims do not know Esu as they just to a conclusion that he is their “devil” or “Satan” in their holy books. Whether you know him or not, below are 15 amazing facts about Esu which helps you to know him better:


1: He is certainly not either the ‘Devil or Satan’ of the New Testament bible who is an out and out evil power in opposition to the plans of God’s salvation of man.

2: Esu is primarily the special relation officer between heaven and earth, the inspector general who reports to Olodumare on the deeds of the divinities and men check and makes reports on the correctness of worship in general and sacrifices (Ebo) in particular.

3: Esu was created to be the right-hand-man divinity to Orunmila

4: Whenever Orunmila’s declaration is not heeded, it is the duty of Esu to bring some calamity by a way of punishment upon the recalcitrant.

6:Esu is ubiquitous because he must always be about his business of inspection

6:Esu as the approver and bearer  of ebo to heaven is known to the babalawo as Ose-tura

7:Esu is feared also because, incidentally, he is in addition to being malicious, a mis–chief-maker quite capable of causing confusion, bringing about complicated situation or promoting malice among people.

10:He is a fan of red palm oil, Shea butter, Herbal pepper, Snail, He-goat, Rooster, Popped corn, Yoruba native kola nut, Bitter kola, Gin.

11:Esu taboos are; red pepper, dog, bitter leaves, palm kernel oil, vulture.

12: He is not the personal embodiment of evil standing in opposition to goodness.

13: Esu has 200 names, by which it is meant that he is elusive, slippery character whom is not easy to fix.

15: Esu’s emblems are various, it can be a piece of lateritic or rock, this is usually struck in the ground or mound of earth, it can be a graven image of clay of wood, this may be with or without a knife in one hand and a dub in other, it can be an earth wave pot turned upside down, with a hole in its middle, or it can be a piece of hard rock in an earth ware dish which has palm oil poured regularly upon it.
