Sanusi withdraws suite against GEJ

Following his suspension from office on February 20, Sanusi had filed a suit against the defendants at the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, challenging his removal from office.According to Nigerian Tribune report, the notice of discontinuance, dated July 1, 2014 which was filed by his lawyer asked the court to discontinue the suits against all the defendants in the matter.Following Sanusi’s lawsuit against the President, Justice Gabriel Kolawole of the Federal High Court, Abuja had dismissed iton the grounds that it lacked jurisdiction to entertain the suit, explaining that, since it is essentially a dispute between an employer and their employee, the matter should be heard by the National Industrial Court.However, in a Notice of Appeal filed on May 28 Sanusi’s counsel, Kola Awodein, had challenged Kolawole’s judgment.Sanusi and Jonathan have been at logger heads, after SLS blew the whistle on the unremitted $20bn at the state oil corporation, the NNPC.While their rift waged on, Sanusi was appointed the Emir of Kano state after the former Emir, Ado Bayero, passed away.Following his appointment, there were report that the government was making plans to arrest him. A source had said, theEmir was supposed to be arrested at his house on Sunday night after the Kano State Governor announced his appointment.
