Ryan Giggs Replaces David Moyes As Manchester United Interim Manager
Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs will take charge of the club for the rest of the season after David Moyes was sacked this morning.
The 40-year-old winger, who was part of the coaching staff under Moyes, will be assisted by Nicky Butt – the current youth team coach.
As interim manager, Giggs will oversee three home games against Norwich, Sunderland and Hull and then a final day fixture away at Southampton.
The club later officially confirmed the appointment.
A statement on it’s website said: “Following the departure of David Moyes as manager, Manchester United has announced that Ryan Giggs, the club’s most decorated player, will assume responsibility for the first team until a permanent appointment can be made.
“The club will make no further comment on this process until it is concluded.”
In an earlier statement on the dismissal of Moyes, the club said: “Manchester United announces that David Moyes has left the club.
“The club would like to place on record its thanks for the hard work, honesty and integrity he brought to the role.”
