With only a few days to the general elections, no fewer than 6,000 pastors in the Southwest are mobilising for the emergence of Major General Muhammadu Buhari as president in the forthcoming elections, while rejecting President Goodluck Jonathan. According to them, they were acting by divine intervention from God who told them that Buhari would be the next president of Nigeria, pointing out that they were not bribed by anybody to support Buhari, PM News reports.

A woman in Saudi Arabia has been sentenced to 70 lashes after insulting a man on WhatsApp. According to Gulfnews,the unnamed 32- year-old will also have to pay a 20,000 Saudi Riyal (£3,604) fine for tarnishing the reputation of the man. The case was filed at Al Qatif criminal court in eastern Saudi Arabia by the man following an argument. The 32-year-old whose nationality is not known pleaded guilty to ruining the reputation of the Saudi man through the mobile chat site following an argument between them. She was also fined £3,600, (SR20,000), for her remarks, reported the Gulf News According to the country's anti-cyber crime laws any person who commits who defames or inflicts damage upon others through the use of various information technology devices "shall be subject to imprisonment for a period not exceeding one year and a fine not exceeding SR 500,000 or to either punishment."

The Black Cats are one point above the relegation zone after Saturday's 4-0 home defeat by Aston Villa. Footballer bags 8 years in prisonment for killing a referee with a single punch

A footballer has been jailed for at least eight years after punching to death a referee in a Michigan United Soccer League match in America. Bassel Saad had already been booked when official John Bieniewicz adjudged him to have committed another foul and prepared to show him a second yellow card. Instead of accepting his punishment, the player reacted by knocking the referee unconscious with a single punch, leaving him lifeless on the pitch. Bieniewicz, 44, was taken to a Detroit hospital but passed away two days later, resulting in Saad being charged with involuntary manslaughter. The 37-year-old pleaded guilty and was sentenced to a minimum of eight years in prison and ordered to pay €8700 towards funeral costs by judge Thomas Cameron, who delivered a final damning verdict on Friday. Before January 29, 2015, the girl’s eyes could be said to be perfect, going by the picture she took with her friends the same month when the school celebrated its 50th anniversary. But the tide changed against Iyanu and it seems she has lost an eye. Sunday Tribune gathered that the event that led to the change in Iyanu’s life started when she was allegedly slapped by one Mrs Funke Fashina, said to be the secretary to the principal of the school. And what was her offence? The woman reportedly saw her and two other girls emerging from an unused room within the school building and enquired to know what they were doing there. Before they could reply, she landed a slap on Iyanu’s face first, and subsequently others. The girl’s right eye was said to have developed a problem and had got worse, with the University CollegeHospital, Ibadan (UCH), saying that she would require a surgery. Iyanu told Sunday Tribune that she could no longer see with the right eye. Narrating her experienc
