Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayo Fayose, on Tuesday met with leaders of the Hausa community in Ekiti State urging them to vote for President Goodluck Jonathan in the February 14 presidential election. A statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Idowu Adelusi, in Ado-Ekiti, quoted Fayose as saying, “We want peace and stability in this country. The problem of insurgency is a creation of the All Progressives Congress so as to destabilise Jonathan and discredit his administration. “How would Buhari, who on many occasions turned down offer to lead the committee on dialogue with Boko Haram, now say he has the solution to Boko Haram activities in the country? “Is that not a clear indication of APC being in the know of Boko Haram and other gunmen attacks in the North? A man has reportedly been blindfolded and thrown off a tower block in Syria for ‘being gay’ before being stoned to death after surviving the fall. The Shocking pictures of the execution, which were posted on Live Leak show ISIS militants hurling the man off the seven- storey building in the town of Tal Abyad in Raqqa. The man, who was supposedly being punished for having a ‘homosexual affair’, apparently survived the fall, but was stoned to death by a waiting crowd at the foot of the tower block. The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, claims the man was thrown from the building before being beaten to death. Muhammad Buhari (retd), on Monday said if elected on February 14, he would ban the importation of basic items like rice and tomato in order to enhance local production of the products. He also said his administration would focus on agriculture, mining, infrastructure and job provision at the top of its economic agenda. Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said if there is a need to declare a public holiday for the residents to collect their Permanent Voter Card, he will not hesitate to do so. The governor said this on Monday at Ajebo in Obafemi/Owode Local Government Area of the state during his re- election campaign tour. From the sources in the state Independent National Electoral Commission, less than 50 per cent of the registered residents have collected their PVC. He said when eventually the long-awaited PVCs were brought in from Abuja to the state, and if it appeared many residents wouldn’t get them before the February 8 deadline given by INEC, he might declare a public holiday. He said, “We will declare public holiday to allow our people obtain their cards when we see the sign that INEC is ready. “We can’t just declare holiday when the cards are not ready. We are doing everything to sensitise our people on the importance of the cards; that is the first stage to election.”

A man who was hell-bent on getting arrested, walked into a police station, dropped his pants and started masturbating in front of stunned cops. According to Dailymail,Ruhan Karjohn, 31, from Hartford Connecticut initially went into the police station at 1pm on Sunday and asked cops if there were any warrants out for his arrest. He was told there were none and he left. But a short time later he returned to the lobby of the police department and announced that he wanted to go to jail. In a bizarre series of events, police said Karjohn then dropped his pants and began to masturbate. According to a police report: 'Citizens in the lobby observed this and ran from the area in shock.' Karjohn then got his wish and was arrested and sent to jail. He has been charged with public indecency and a breach of peace.

Four plaintiffs have asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to order the postponement of the general elections scheduled for February 14 and 28 till when all eligible voters have their Permanent Voter Card. The plaintiffs who claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission had yet to issue them their PVC, are Asogo Torkuma Venatius, Ola Solomon Oluwasanmi, Sunday Attah and Philip Agbese. Insisting that INEC was under statutory obligation to provide them with the PVC, they are also asking the court to order the use of Temporary Voters Card for those who are unable to collect their PVC. They argued that should the election be allowed to go on, “millions of eligible voters stand the risk of being disenfranchised.” Their counsel, Mr. Amobi Nzelu, who filed their suit with number FHC/ABJ/CS/DW/2015, joined the Independent National Electoral Commission and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Mr. Bello Adoke, as the first and second defendants respectively.
