MAPOLY Mass communication students protest over lack of P.A.S

200 level students of mass-communication at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic,Ojere, Abeokuta Ogun state(MAPOLY) have protested over the lack public address system(PAS) and lack of good lecture room. The incident happened on Wednesday at 4:30pm when the evening students were receiving lecture and the PAS was malfunctioning. The students, especially the evening students have been complaning from the begining of the semester that the Association of mass communication students have not been active ever since they were elected. The co-ordinator of the evening 200 level students Mr. Adeosun Sola said the students should calm down and they should go document the problems they are facing that he would do anything in his power to make things go in order. Patent reveals system that would let iPhone users attach lenses to their device

Just days after leaked images suggested Apple’s iPhone 6 will have a protruding camera, a patent has been issued giving an insight into what this feature may be used for. The patent, initially filed in 2012, describes a bayonet mount system for an iPhone camera. The system is similar to that currently used on SLR cameras and lets photographers attach and remove interchangeable lenses using a twist and lock motion. Bayonet connectors are also the standard light bulb fitting in the United Kingdom, Australia, India and other countries. According to the Apple patent: 'it may be desirable to couple a lens to a portable electronic device including a camera. ‘The camera may not include optical zoom functionality, wide angle capability, or certain filters, and hence the addition of an accessory device may be desirable.' FIFA Hits Barcelona With Transfer Ban From Signing Players For The Next Two Transfer Periods

FIFA today April 2nd banned Spanish football giants FC Barcelona from signing players till summer 2015 over rules breach relating to the international transfer and registration of players under 18. According to reports, the club was investigated by FIFA for 12 months over their youth recruitment policy. And after FIFA found out that the club had been engaged in illegally recruiting and importing non-Spanish minors over a four year period, the world football governing body handed out the transfer ban and also fined the club £306,000. (450,000 Swiss francs.) 15 civilians died in Maiduguri explosion —DHQ

According to a punch report, the Defence Headquarters on Tuesday in Abuja confirmed the death of 15 civilians, including a member of the Youth Vigilante Group, in an explosion in Maiduguri on Monday . The confirmation is contained in a statement by the Director of Defence Information, Maj.-Gen. Chris Olukolade. The statement indicated that: “A total of 15 civilians, including a member of the Youth Vigilante Group, died while 17 others were wounded in the explosion which occurred at Mulai, near Maiduguri on Monday. “Eight vehicles were also destroyed in the incident. Florida girl, 13, to be tried as an adult for plot to kill her mother

The 13-year-old Florida girl who is accused of plotting with her boyfriend on Facebook to kill her mother will stand trial as an adult. Yaquelin Galvex Don has been charged with attempted murder after she lured her mother, Luz Galvez into their garage where her 15-year-old boyfriend, Pedro Solis was waiting to slit her throat. However, Galvez did not die after the March 9 attack and in an incredible twist Solis was convinced to rush her to the hospital where he dumped on the curb and then drove off. Galvez received emergency surgery that day on the wound to her neck and was able to communicate to police the same day that her daughter and her boyfriend were responsible. The teens had plotted through Facebook messages to kill the girl's parents for more than a week, investigators said because Don's parent's disapproved of their relationship. Talented PhD student, 27, killed by hit-and- run driver while she was crossing the street

A talented PhD student and aspiring marine biologist has been killed by a suspected hit-and-run driver who was believed to be under the influence of alcohol. Rachel Anne Morrison, 27, was walking home with a friend at the intersection of Camino Del Mar and Coast Boulevard in Del Mar, San Diego, at around 10.15pm on Friday night when she was killed. The car ran a stop sign and collided with Miss Morrison. Instead of stopping, the driver fled the scene, San Diego County Sheriff's Department said. Miss Morrison was taken to Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla but was pronounced dead shortly after. The talented student studied at Scripps Insitution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Abuja varsity students protest lack of water, power

Students of the University of Abuja on Monday protested the lack power and water supply to the permanent campus site of the university. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that more than 1,000 students gathered on the campus about 8am on Monday and barricaded road leading to the Senate building and classes. Some of them told NAN that the protest became necessary because the school authorities had not provided power and water at the campus for three months running. Mr Mike Ajeoja, a Theatre student, said those of them living in hostel at the permanent site had no power and water for the past three months. Ajeoja said they had drawn the attention of the school management to their plight, but nothing had been done to address the situation. “We are left with no choice then to come out and tell the world our problems. “We will not stop the protest unless our problems are solved,” he said. A female student, who pleaded for anonymity, said she had not had her bath for some days as a result of
