Gateway to Hell'-Hole with blazing flames on mountain in China

A giant hole with blazing flames that opened up on a mountainside in China has been branded the 'Gateway to Hell' by superstitious locals. Fumes spewing from the glowing pit are so hot that tree branches burst into flames when they are held over it.Temperatures inside the opening are a whopping 792C, leading some locals to claim it is a portal to reach the Devil himself. Construction workers discovered the mysterious lava-filled cave after spotting a small hole in on the surface of the hillside pouring out fumes last week. Geologists are now flocking to study the unique sink hole on the outskirts of Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in north-western China. The area was sealed off after the discovery of the phenomenon and scientists are now working to establish its origins. Oba of Lagos meets with Igbo leader

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Caretaker Committee and other Igbo leaders yesterday met with the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, over the controversial warning to Igbo. Oba Akiolu had threatened Igbo to either vote for the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode or die in the lagoon According to the Daily Sun,the team was made up of Chief Ralph Obioha, chairman of the Caretaker Committee, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, who was leader of delegation; Chief Onwuka Ukwa (Ebonyi State); Chief Haruna Ajah (Ebonyi State); Chief Ignatius Okamene (Imo State) and Chief Mrs. Pat Udoye (Ebugu State). Sources revealed that at the meeting, Obioha had asked Oba Akilu if there was any rift between the Igbo and the palace to warrant his comments, to which the monarch said it was only politics, adding that by Saturday, after the governorship election, it would be over. Niger state governor, Dr. Muazu Babangida Aliyu has said he would rather resign from politics than join the APC.The outgoing governor who lost in his Senatorial bid called those PDP members defecting political prostitutes.. ”Those who have defected from PDP to APC have clearly demonstrated that they are not principled and they are suffering from poverty,lack integrity and not morals and could easily be described as stomach politicians. For me, I will rather resign from politics than defect to APC or any other party.”For principles of integrity, morality, we have chosen to remain in PDP. I heard people insinuating that I have dumped my party candidate for the APC candidate. It is a lie, I will never do such a thing,” he declared.

Impeachment: Jonathan tells Fayose to resign, says time of impunity is over

Outgoing President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has told the embattled Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state to resign now or face the inevitable option of impeachment by the 19 lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Jonathan was said to have told Fayose that the time of impunity in Nigeria is over and that he (Jonathan) is committed to the rule of law. “As you can see, I am already packing my personal belongings out of the Villa, back to my Village, I cannot influence any process, we must allow the law to run its full course, we cannot continue to disrupt due process, that is not good for the country.” According to a source, Fayose (and the Ondo state Governor, Olusegun MImiko) were deliberately absent at the post election meeting held with Jonathan in Aso Rock because of the dismal performance of the PDP in the South West despite the last-minute huge investment and the promises that the zone will be delivered to the party. Man Arrested In Lagos For Killing Student Over Girlfriend [See Photo]

A 38 year old car wash attendant Monday Ekwekuba, an indigene of Imo State, has been arrested by the Lagos state Police command for killing 26-year-old student Wisdom Okafor pictured above in the Ojokoro area of Lagos State following a disagreement over the victim’s closeness to his girlfriend. Punch reports that the suspect Ekwekuba had visited his girlfriend on March 22nd and met Wisdom in her house. He accused the deceased of having an affair with his girlfriend and out of anger, picked up a stick and smashed it on Wisdom’s head who took to his heels but unfortunately ran into a moving vehicle where he was crushed to death. According to Daniel, the victim’s younger brother, he said his brother became friends with the lady in question after he mistakenly dialed her number.
