No fewer than seven people died while 13 other victims sustained various degrees of injuries when the driver of a Toyota Hiace bus rammed into a Corolla car at Gidan-Bassa village along the Lokoja-Ajaokuta Highway on Monday. An eye witness said that the driver of the bus was trying to overtake the car when the bus ran onto it, killing seven and injuring 13 others out of the 20 people that were involved in the accident. Kogi State Sector Commander, Federal Road Safety Commission, Mr. Godwin Omiko, confirmed the accident to journalists in Lokoja. He said that the accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with number plate AKL 73 YP and a Toyota Corrolla car with number plate AA 264 SNA. According to him, 20 people were involved in the accident. He stated that the lifeless bodies of the victims had been deposited at the morgue of the Kogi Specialist and some other hospitals.
