Crowd beat teen to death, say she is a suicide bomber

Image
A crowd beat to death a teenage girl accused of planning to be a suicide bomber and then set her body ablaze Sunday, according to police and witnesses at a northeastern Nigerian market. Accordng to AP,a second suspect, also a teenage girl, was arrested at Muda Lawal, the biggest market in Bauchi city. In Bauchi, the two girls aroused suspicion by refusing to be searched when they arrived at the gate to the vegetable market, said yam vendor Mohd Adamu. People overpowered one girl and discovered she had two bottles strapped to her body, he said. They clubbed her to death, put a tire doused in fuel over her head and set it on fire, he said. It seems doubtful the girl was actually a bomber as she did not detonate any explosives when she was attacked, said Police Deputy Superintendent Mohammad Haruna. He described her as the victim of"mob action carried out by an irate crowd."

APC Responds To FFK’s Tinubu/Osinbajo Allegation

Image
Our attention has been drawn to a statement credited to the Director of Media of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation, Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode on the All Progressives Congress and its leaders. Fani-Kayode alleges that Asiwaju Tinubu would become president by asking the Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo toresign after six months in office in the belief that the. President Muhammadu Buhari may have terminal health challenges. That the message came through Mr. Femi Fani- Kayode who, just a few days ago, was brought to answer corruption charges, makes the message incredulous. The whole world knows the other reasons for the incredulity of any message delivered through him. However, to the uninformed, there is no iota of truth in such allegation. It is the product of infantile, wild imagination of a convoluted, distorted and warped mind in the APC, we do not indulge in oath-taking, pact-signing and such other rituals that the PDP establishment is adept at. Residents of Obele community in Oko-Agbola, Magbon area of Badagry, Lagos, were taken aback at the sight of policemen at the site of a swimming pool around the area on February 13, 2015. However, before their arrival, a crowd had gathered to watch the bloated headless body of a man in the river. At the approach of the policemen, the crowd disappeared into thin air for fear of possible arrest. On closer observation , it was discovered that the headless man also had other parts of his body mutilated. We Don’t Tell You About Change Because We Are Not Bus Conductors – Patience Jonathan

Image
The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, Thursday, urged women in the country to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), saying no one loves Nigerian women than President Goodluck Jonathan. She tried a pun about the slogan of the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC), as she boasts that the PDP acts more and talks less. “The PDP is a party that talks less and does more, unlike the APC that tells new lies every week. When you catch them today, they will tell another lie tomorrow. We (PDP) do not tell you about change because we are not bus conductors that ask for change,” said Mrs Jonathan at Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, where the PDP Women for Change Initiative Presidential Rally held. “We are now in a digital age and we should reject anyone who wants to take us back to analog days. Obasanjo’s fake Twitter account blocked

Image
Operator(s) of@SegunObasanjo, a controversial Twitter handle associated with former President Olusegun Obasanjo, may have to look elsewhere for another deceptive platform. The account has been deactivated from the social networking platform. Investigation shows that the account, which was still active last weekend, was removed from Twitter on Tuesday. The Twitter handle rode on the back of the recent political rift between Obasanjo and President Goodluck Jonathan to gain prominence. It enjoyed regular visits by politicians and journalists, who saw it as a useful source of information. Cashing in on the internal conflict in the Peoples Democratic Party, in which Obasanjo was a key factor, the operator (s) in the account attacked perceived enemies of the former President and responded to their remarks. A number of the statements credited to Obasanjo, even by some traditional media organisations (PUNCH excluded), were sourced from the fake account. Indeed, Obasanjo publicly refuted
