Cameroonian army kills over 100 Boko Haram militants

Punch reports: More than 100 suspected Nigerian Islamic sect Boko Haram militants were killed and over 200 arrested during an operation conducted by Cameroonian army on Friday night in Far-North Region of Cameroon, an army source told Xinhua over phone Saturday. The operation took place in Doble, a place in Far-North Region bordering Nigeria, and was conducted by Cameroon Air Force and Rapid Intervention Battalion, an elite army unitstationing in the north. During the operation, three Cameroonian air force pilots were seriously injured, the source said. In the same night, 23 Cameroonian civilians were killed and a village was burned by suspected Boko Haram militants in Mozogo, a place in Far-North Region. The suspected Boko Haram militants are active in the north of Cameroon, they often attack the villages in the area,pillaging properties of the villagers and sometimes taking foreign and local people as hostages. 54 Soldiers Sentenced To Death By Nigerian Military Allegedly Starved Of Food

54 soldiers sentenced to death for mutiny by a military court in Abuja last Wednesday Dec.17th, are reportedly being starved of food and basic care, a military source told Premium Times The soldiers, who were transferred from Abuja to Lagos on Sunday December 21st, are said to be serially shackled by their legs and crammed in two cells without beds or food or any form of care.. “The first cell has 30 soldiers. The second is underground and has 24 soldiers. There are no beds, no mattresses. The soldiers have not been fed since Sunday.” the source said. The soldiers have been in this condition since they arrived Lagos Sunday Dec. 21st till Wednesday December 24th but no one knows if their conditions have since improved. Teenager Dies After Being Shot In Head On Christmas By Friend Playing Around With Handgun

A Detroit teenager was taken off life support and died due to a gunshot wound caused by a friend playing with a handgun, police said. WJBK reports that Bernard Walker, 16, was in a home in the neighborhood of Petosky-Otsegoon Christmas Day, when two friends arrived, one carrying a loaded weapon. Police say the friends started playing around with the gun in the basement, when the 19-year-old pulled the trigger, firing a shot that struck Bernard in the head. The teen was rushed to nearby Henry Ford Hospital, where he was put on a ventilator. He was removed from life support and died Friday afternoon. The station reports that a neighbor called Bernard a ‘good kid,’ and his mother, Theresa Culbert, described having to watch her son slip away. ‘He wasn’t really doing good at all,’ Culbert said. ‘Just basically had to watch his brain die.’ Both of Bernard’s friends were taken into custody by police. Punch reports: The President of Living Faith Church (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, says the ministry has six million members in 147 nations across the world. Oyedepo made the disclosure on Saturday at a breakfast meeting with members of Omu-Aran Government Secondary School Old Boys Association at the LandmarkUniversity, Omu- Aran, Kwara. Oyedepo, the Chancellor of Landmark and Covenant Universities and also a member of OGSSOBA, said that the figure was ascertained at the recent convention of the church. He advised members of old boys association to rededicate themselves to arresting infrastructure decay in all colleges and institutions across the length and breadth of the country.
