CP Mbu bans #bringbackourgirls protest in Abuja

The Federal Capital Territory Commissioner of Police, Joseph Mbu, on Monday banned all protests over the 234 abducted Chibok school girls in the territory with immediate effect. Mbu, who announced the ban at a news conference in Abuja, said that the trend of the protest in the FCT was posing a serious security threat. “Accordingly, protests on the Chibok girls are hereby banned with immediate effect. As the FCT police boss, I cannot fold my hands and watch this lawlessness (protests). Information reaching us is that too soon, dangerous elements will join groups under the guise of protest and detonate explosives aimed at embarrassing the government,” he said. 40year Old Housewife Sent To Kirikiri Prison After Hubby Fled With 1.5m Loan

A 40-year old housewife, Shola Afolayan, has been sent to Kirikiri Prisons in Lagos State after her husband absconded with a loan of N1.5million. PMNews reports that the mother of five kids stood as guarantor for her husband who borrowed N1.5 million from Mrs Chioma Ohaegbu to set up a business and promised to pay at a fixed date. But according to Shola, immediately her husband collected the loan, he abandoned her and their children and fled with the money. Narrating what happened, Chioma said Mr. Afolayan came to her house at 12, Oludegun Street, Ire Akari Estate, Isolo in Lagos and solicited for financial assistance. Ohaegbu said before she gave him the money, Afolayan took her to his house at Isheri-Oshun in Lagos and introduced her to his wife and children, assuring her that he would not disappoint her if given the loan. Gunmen Abduct Bayelsa State Speaker’s 90-Year Old Mother-In-Law

The mother-in-law of Bayelsa State speaker, Madam Ogboro Dark was yesterday kidnapped by unknown gunmen who stormed her community in the state around 2.00am.The gunmen shot sporadically as they made their way into her home and abducted her. According to few villagers who witnessed the scene, the armed men entered the community through the waterside in three boats and were fast to leave as soon as they bundled the woman. A pastor with Deeper life Bible Church and a former Brooklyn-based civil attorney Ifeanyichukwu Eric Abakporo, was on May 28th sentenced to 6 years imprisonment by a US Federal High Court for defrauding banks, mortgage lenders, property owners, and property buyers in America. Prosecutors say Mr Abakporo and his accomplice, Latanya Pierce, carried out the illegal transactions for over nine years. They were convicted in a wide-ranging series of illegal transactions in New York city over a 9-year stretch, dating back to 2003. Lagos boxing champion dies in swimming pool Ju

A gold medalist at the boxing event at the just-concluded Ibile Games, Mujib Philips, died on Saturday in the swimming pool at the Mobolaji Johnson Sports Centre, Rowe Park in Yaba, Lagos. The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Philips died during the Boxing Hall of Fame championship event which holds every last Saturday of the month. Philips won a gold medal at the Ibile Games, hosted by the Lagos State Government to showcase talented athletes in local governments areas in the state. The boxer was confirmed dead by the medical doctor in charge of the Lagos State Sports Council, Dr Akin George, who also invited the state’s emergency ambulance service, LASAMBUS. “The body of the deceased would be taken to the appropriate place for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of his death,’’ George said.
