African leaders declare ‘war’ on Boko Haram

According to a BBC, African leaders meeting in Paris have agreed to wage “war” on Nigeria’s Boko Haram Islamic militants. President Hollande of France, who hosted the summit, said regional powers had pledged to share intelligence and co-ordinate action against the group. Last month it abducted 223 schoolgirls in north-eastern Nigeria, where it is based. Fresh attacks were reported in Nigeria and Cameroon overnight. Thousands of people have been killed by Boko Haram in recent years. The Paris summit brought together President Francois Hollande, Nigeria’s Goodluck Jonathan, and their counterparts from Benin, Cameroon, Niger and Chad. Afterwards, Mr Hollande said participants had agreed on a “global and regional action plan”. #BringBackOurGirls: African China Blasts Nigerian Artistes Calls Them Hypocrites

Dance Hall reggae act,Chinagorom Onuoha, the one we all know asAfrican China, is not happy with his fellow artistes and has tongue lashed them, calling them hypocrites and pretenders in the campaign to force the Federal Government to effect the rescue of the abducted Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, by the dreaded Boko Haram insurgents. According to the singer whose conscious music like Crisis, Mr. President and Our Government Bad, made serious waves in the late 90s to the early 2000s, he had called up some of his colleagues to feature in his new song, Boko Haram, with the aim of making it a collaboration of various Nigerian artistes but his colleagues turned him down during the production. Boy, 14, arrested for raping and suffocating 11-year-old neighbor girl in her bed after her brothers threw a rowdy party

A rural North Carolina that was horrified last year when an 11-year-old girl was raped and murdered in her own bed has been shocked again - this time after a neighbor boy, age just 14, was arrested and charged with the crime. McKenzie Mae Sessoms, a fifth grader from Clinton, North Carolina, was found suffocated with a pillow last September 6 - the morning after her brothers threw a 'rowdy gathering' at the family home. On Wednesday, police announced the arrest of a young teenage boy, who is charged with first-degree rape and murder. Officials did not release his name, but family and neighbors identified him as Antonio Trey Jones. At the time of the murder, Jones was living with his grandfather Howard Jones in a house off a dirt road - just feet from McKenzie's home, Mr Jones told WTVD-TV. 'If he done it, I'm glad they got him. That's all I can say,' Mr Jones said. An autopsy report says that McKenzie was found wedged against the pillow that was used to suff

Nyanya Bombing: Hospital Rejects Victims Of Second Blast

The series of explosions that rocked the Federal Capital Territory in the last two weeks appear to have taken toll on its health facilities as some of the hospitals in the territory rejected victims of Thursday’s bomb blast at Nyanya, a satellite community within the FCT, which left 30 people dead and many others injured. Saturday PUNCH learnt that some victims were sent back when they were brought to hospitals on Friday morning. At the Asokoro General Hospital, Abuja, victims were turned back due to lack of bed spaces. It was reported that some patients were sent back when they were brought to the hospital on Friday morning. For example, a woman, who was brought to the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital in a Honda Odyssey car with registration number BM 837RBC, was not allowed to be brought down from the vehicle. The old lady, who was lying at the back seat of the car, was feeling uncomfortable as the driver of the car was speaking with the officials of the hospital. After a
