He added that , this development was made upon two reasons,  One, those who could not be present physically to participate in the Pilgrimage wo

Image
A babalawo performing Ebo riru Credit: F.O.B Ẹ bọ is of the essence of the Ifá religion or let me say Yoruba religion as it is of every religion of the world has ever known. Unless we want to run away from the fact, every religion offers Ẹbọ to the Supreme Being one way or the other.   For example, the Muslims go on 30-days fasting, and after, they offer a ram as a sacrifice (ẹbọ).  The Christians also offer Chicken whenever it is Christmas. These are all forms of Ẹbọ whether we like it or not.

10 reasons why you need to be initiated into Ifa

Image
Ifa initiation known in Yoruba as itenifa or itelodu can be said to be a spiritual process which enables one to understand not only what Ifa is but also to illuminate light to one’s life, destiny and to serve as a pathway, guidance to our application to life itself. Itenifa is therefore not limited to the above definition as there are many ways and perspectives to view it according to how the practitioners see it.  Itenifa is advisable for everyone, both Ifa practitioners and non-practitioners, male and female. Without taking much time, because itenifa is a broad topic which I will not delve into. I decided to come up with the 10 reasons why itenifa is important to you.  Note that the reasons are much than ten but I limit mine to just ten. See below: 1.      It gives the initiates Ase (power) in any chosen career 2.      It enables the initiates to know the easiest direction to follow in order to achieve their pre-destined desired goals 3.      It gives them the

How to select the right ebo for your problem

Image
It is one thing to unveil a problem and another thing to proffer solution to such problem.  Ebo as it is generally reckoned with, is the key not only to prayer-answering but also a delicate procedure to solve a spiritual problem no matter how deteriorating it could be.  Bearing in mind the delicate approach to Ebo, a Babalawo must understand the nitty-gritty as regards ebo.  He must know or select the right sacrificial items corresponding with what Ifa sees during divination.  For example, when IFA sees Ire aiku for a client, it is the duty of the Babalawo to know all the sacrificial items related to ire aiku not selecting ire Aje items for it.  However, this short article tells you the sacrificial items for every problem or goodness Ifa foresees for you. Àikú (Deathlessness) : Cocks, he-goat, kolanuts, bitterkola, ram, money. Aje ( wealth) : Pigeon, guineafowl, honey, bean cakes, kolanuts, money Omo ( Children) : Rat, fish, goat, ewe, Kolanut, bitter kola, money Ay

Who is an Apetebi? : Her dos and don'ts

Image
In Ifa, there are specific roles that had been prescribed for an apetebi to ensure the development of home, the community, and the nation as a whole in line with the dictates of Olodumare. According to Ifa, an apetebi is the wife of Ifa, and not necessarily, the wife of a Babalawo or an ifa practitioner. A woman may be advised to have the symbol of Ifa on her person in order to solve a specific problem in life or to accelerate to the realization of certain goals for her while the husband may not be an Ifa practitioner at all.
