Prayers are answered in different forms, it might be immediate or delayed.

Immediate Answering: This kind be said to be that form of prayer that come to pass as soon as the prayer request is made. Fayemi (2011) explains immediate prayer; whenever we pray to Olodumare for a particular need, if the answering or provision of the need is instant as if live coal meets gunpowder and produces fire instantly, this kind of situation makes us happy. Many times, how this happens seems magical to human being. This is because earthly beings may not be able to explain how it happens. This is what we call “miracle”.

This kind of prayer is obviously what majority of the people demands for, they want their prayers answered immediately but only the Supreme Being decides if it is to be immediate or delayed. Butressing this, Odi Meji talks about two men whose prayers were answered immediately. The blind and the one with swollen scrotum, they were asked to perform ebo in request of what they want form Olodumare. The blind was told to use a rooster while the other was told to use a ram. Both of them complied. When the blind man was making his ebo and was praying with the rooster he wanted to make the rooster touch his head, the rooster struggled in it quest to escape and the arm’s feather accidentally got into the blind man’s eyes, it was very painful and hard for the blind man to handle. Eventually, he opened his eyes and realized that he could see again. He praised Olodumare and make the Ebo with the rooster.

At the other end, the swollen scrotum took the ram to his father’s grave for etutu with the ram legs tied all together, as the ram was about to be killed, it struggled and stretched its legs out of the rope then a leg hit the man’s swollen scrotum and he screamed in great pain. As he managed to touch the swollen scrotum, he found out that it has become normal size. He too was grateful to Olodumare as his prayer was answered immediately.

In this wise, Olodumare is the one to set the agenda if one’s prayer is to be answered immediately as everyone wishes to.

Delayed Answering: This tends to be the opposite of the immediate. Prayers in this scenario is not answered immediately, they take time for them to come to pass. This form of pray can be believed to be the popular form in our current world. At times, Olodumare may decide to delay answering one’s prayer. He serves as the Gate keeper, he selects which prayers to be delayed and those to be immediate. Fayemi (lib) explains delayed answering ;  Olodumare may decide to delay answering one’s prayer. In this situation, as it is true that delay in receiving one’s desire makes one despairing, one may lose hope for thinking that Olodumare does not accept one’s prayer, in a situation like this, many people, because they are not endowed with enough patience, will be fed up. Even some people may blaspheme against the Orisa or Irunmole.

What is applicable here or what is expected of you to do from Olodumare is PATIENCE. You have to be patience and be optimistic that your prayer is answered. An impatience person that has been praying for wealth for years and yet he has been wealthy will be fed up with prayers believing that his prayers always go in vain whenever her prays for wealth, he then find a filthy means in becoming wealthy. He involves himself in money ritual, fraudulent act, armed robbery to mention a few and at the end he got caught and was punished for his act. He may later discovered from a spiritual person (Babalawo) that, had it been that he was a little patient his success is on the verge of reaching him.

However, one might have been doing ebo every-time by time to achieve a goal and he hasn’t reach the goal. He or she should not have the negative thought that all his or her ebos have gone in vain, no ebo goes in vain. Ebo is the key of prayer answering. All that is needed for you to do is to be perseverance, with patience and continuous prayer there is a light at the of the tunnel.
